Closing Centenaire Cité Universitaire de Paris
To mark the closing of its Centenary in 2025, the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris sought to develop a strong artistic project capable of celebrating a century of history while affirming a vision firmly oriented toward the future. The objective was to highlight its exceptional heritage and archives, while actively involving students, alumni, and staff in a collective, meaningful creative process. Through this digital artwork, unveiled during the closing ceremony on December 17, 2025, the Cité aimed to create a lasting symbol that would leave a durable impression and extend beyond the event itself.
Artpoint conceived Fragments of a Century, a participatory digital collage created by artist Luke Conroy and designed as a living portrait of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. Drawing on an extensive body of archival material and on contributions from the Cité’s community, the artwork weaves together institutional memory, human diversity, and a forward-looking perspective within a cohesive and sensitive visual narrative. Revealed during the Centenary’s closing ceremony, this collective creation stands as both a tribute to the past and a projection toward the future, expressing the Cité’s founding values and its capacity for reinvention as a unique crossroads of cultures, knowledge, and shared commitments.
