The Austrian artist “plutoopictures” is an independent filmmaker and photographer based in Vienna, known for creating authentic stories inspired by real life. His work combines experimental ideas, practical effects, and a seamless editing style in which no cut is meant to feel like a cut. Every decision is guided by the intention to create something unique, original, and emotionally honest. What moves him about film and photography is not only the final project, but also the human story behind it: the years of dedication, the passion, and the vision and courage it takes to bring an idea to reality. In a time of AI, where reality and imitation blur, he wants to hold on to that raw, authentic form of filmmaking. His work is about keeping the human touch alive through practical effects, unique storytelling, and sometimes going the second extra mile to bring ideas to life. His ultimate goal is to create films that feel real, are rooted in emotion, and bring some kind of value to the world.




Plutoopictures shares most of his work on his personal Instagram channel “plutoopictures” or his YouTube channel “handgemacht (by plutoopictures)”. The artist has worked with the Austrian national broadcaster ORF to produce social media content for the Eurovision Song Contest. Past projects include long-form YouTube documentaries (such as the history of Eurovision and the story behind Gangnam Style), street photography in Vienna, and short viral formats for social media.

Time elasticity II

Over a period of two years, the Viennese artist “plutoopictures” filmed the street from his window to make the concept of traveling through time experienceable in real life. He captured “Mattiellistraße” in Wieden, Vienna, across different seasons, weather conditions, and cultural occasions from the same camera position, and edited several short films to show that time is an elastic concept.

Inspired by the continuously changing weather in Vienna, he started filming his office window in June 2024, during the first month after moving in. He wanted to show the changing emotional feeling you get from the very same view depending on the weather, subjects, or overall atmosphere. The same location can be a place of pure beauty and joy or pure destruction and greyness. Putting all these different moments together in one short film - showing a year of real life unfolding in seconds - is something that is not easy for the human brain to process and raises questions about time and the importance of moments.

Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is a specialized 3D technique that allows 3D objects to be created from numerous photographs taken of an object or scene from multiple angles. These photos are then compiled to determine the specific positioning, shape, and dimensions of the object in space, and then converted into a 3D model. Initially developed for engineering and urban planning, photogrammetry has become a way for artists to produce extremely accurate 3D models from real-life images.
Collage
An extension of the traditional, plastic approach to collage, digital collage involves searching for and cutting out multiple images, extracting them from their original context, and recomposing them in a new arrangement to create a work of art. Artists can use their own photographs or find images on the internet.
Illustration
Digital illustrations are created using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Procreate. As with drawing on paper, the artist uses a stylus to sketch a figure or object, usually on a tablet, to construct a scene or artistic universe. Unlike traditional drawing methods, digital illustration is much more forgiving, as mistakes can be easily corrected and drawn elements and objects can be easily moved around within a scene.
Video
Video artworks primarily use a recording camera, but may sometimes include additional post-processing or editing to distort, modify or add additional elements to the image. Some artists use state-of-the-art recording equipment to create macro zoom-ins or time lapses, privileging fidelity to the subject matter. Others use additional softwares to significantly modify or warp the video, creating an alternative perspective on the world that surrounds us.
