The Austrian artist “plutoopictures” is an independent filmmaker and photographer based in Vienna, known for creating authentic stories inspired by real life. His work combines experimental ideas, practical effects, and a seamless editing style in which no cut is meant to feel like a cut. Every decision is guided by the intention to create something unique, original, and emotionally honest. What moves him about film and photography is not only the final project, but also the human story behind it: the years of dedication, the passion, and the vision and courage it takes to bring an idea to reality. In a time of AI, where reality and imitation blur, he wants to hold on to that raw, authentic form of filmmaking. His work is about keeping the human touch alive through practical effects, unique storytelling, and sometimes going the second extra mile to bring ideas to life. His ultimate goal is to create films that feel real, are rooted in emotion, and bring some kind of value to the world.




Plutoopictures shares most of his work on his personal Instagram channel “plutoopictures” or his YouTube channel “handgemacht (by plutoopictures)”. The artist has worked with the Austrian national broadcaster ORF to produce social media content for the Eurovision Song Contest. Past projects include long-form YouTube documentaries (such as the history of Eurovision and the story behind Gangnam Style), street photography in Vienna, and short viral formats for social media.

Pendant deux ans, l’artiste viennois « plutoopictures » a filmé la rue depuis sa fenêtre afin de rendre tangible, dans la vie réelle, le concept du voyage dans le temps. Il a filmé la « Mattiellistraße » à Wieden, à Vienne, au fil des saisons, des conditions météorologiques et des événements culturels, toujours depuis le même angle de prise de vue, puis a monté plusieurs courts métrages pour montrer que le temps est un concept élastique.

Inspiré par la météo en constante évolution à Vienne, il a commencé à filmer la fenêtre de son bureau en juin 2024, au cours du premier mois suivant son emménagement. Il souhaitait montrer l’évolution des émotions que l’on ressent face à une même vue en fonction de la météo, des sujets ou de l’atmosphère générale. Un même lieu peut être source de pure beauté et de joie, ou de pure destruction et de morosité. Rassembler tous ces moments différents dans un seul court-métrage – montrant une année de vie réelle se dérouler en quelques secondes – est quelque chose que le cerveau humain a du mal à assimiler et qui soulève des questions sur le temps et l’importance des instants.

Generative art

Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is a specialized 3D technique that allows 3D objects to be created from numerous photographs taken of an object or scene from multiple angles. These photos are then compiled to determine the specific positioning, shape, and dimensions of the object in space, and then converted into a 3D model. Initially developed for engineering and urban planning, photogrammetry has become a way for artists to produce extremely accurate 3D models from real-life images.
Collage
An extension of the traditional, plastic approach to collage, digital collage involves searching for and cutting out multiple images, extracting them from their original context, and recomposing them in a new arrangement to create a work of art. Artists can use their own photographs or find images on the internet.
Illustration
Digital illustrations are created using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Procreate. As with drawing on paper, the artist uses a stylus to sketch a figure or object, usually on a tablet, to construct a scene or artistic universe. Unlike traditional drawing methods, digital illustration is much more forgiving, as mistakes can be easily corrected and drawn elements and objects can be easily moved around within a scene.
Video
Video artworks primarily use a recording camera, but may sometimes include additional post-processing or editing to distort, modify or add additional elements to the image. Some artists use state-of-the-art recording equipment to create macro zoom-ins or time lapses, privileging fidelity to the subject matter. Others use additional softwares to significantly modify or warp the video, creating an alternative perspective on the world that surrounds us.
