Anna Carreras is a generative artist and creative coder, whose practice is centered on the use of algorithms to create visuals that illustrate abstract concepts, evoke memory, and open spaces for reflection and discussion. Coding her work from scratch, she produces images that cannot be achieved through any other medium. She’s interested in the complexity emerging from simple systems and behaviours. Her research explores the balance between order and chaos, a tension she observes in both nature and everyday life, translating these dynamics into vivid digital compositions that can be static or dynamic, geometric or organic. Her works often draw inspiration from her Mediterranean culture and landscape.
Anna Carreras holds a PhD in Fine Arts specialized in Generative Art, as well as two Masters of Science degrees, one in Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and another in Audiovisual Technologies from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). She teaches creative coding at several design schools in Barcelona. Her work has been exhibited on platforms such as Feral File and Art Blocks Curated, and shown in galleries, institutions, and festivals including CVerso, MUTEK ES+AR, Sónar Festival Barcelona, Eufònic Urbà Decentraland, the Venice Art Biennale, Medialab Prado Madrid, and Abandon Normal Devices Liverpool, among others.
