The project is a simulation of me and my cousins going back to that Y2K era and the name
Y2KIDS can be referred to Year 2000 Kids since all of us were born around the year 2000.
With the rise of vintage fashion in recent years, the Y2K trend is making a huge comeback but
through new designs, styles, and colors. For many, Y2K fashion was a high point in our society
and a lot of people who grew up during that time are feeling nostalgic for it since it’s a collective
memory. It also leads to an interesting phenomenon - people long for the past, just like how they
long for the future. As a 2000s kid, I was deeply influenced by the Y2K aesthetic since it could
be found almost everywhere when I was a kid - advertisement boards, logos, music videos, and
even some of the new Barbie's clothes. For me, although memories for that specific period are
always in fragments and blurred, it's always something subliminal in my head.
