Yama (Sihan) Li is a Los Angeles–based multimedia artist, visual designer, and curator whose practice spans CG animation, film directing, motion design, graphic design, and digital media art. Through abstract, dreamlike, and stream-of-consciousness imagery, Li explores bodily movement and perception, deconstructing and reconstructing notions of personal identity in relation to the surrounding world. Her poetic visual landscapes invite viewers to engage with questions of identity on an intuitive and emotional level, unveiling a personal narrative and an intricate relationship with the world through mixed digital media.
Li holds a BA from UCLA's Design Media Arts program and an MFA in Experimental Animation from CalArts. She currently works at Refik Anadol Studio, alongside her own independent practice.

Silent, Listen 02 is the second chapter of animation series Silent, Listen, which touches upon the Buddhist notion of “form.” Drawing from the Diamond Sutra (“All appearances are illusory. If one sees that all appearances are not appearances, one sees the truth,") the work follows an ever-flowing, constantly transforming figure wandering through the wilderness in search of truth.
Everything we see and feel with our human sensory organs is no more than a projection of our own desires and obsessions. What we perceive is not necessarily reality. Forms or appearances are ultimately just illusions. Skins on the surface morph constantly, Inner spirits flow endlessly.
Where do we see permanence?
Where do we see immortality?
Where do we see reality?
Like the shadow of the moon in water, like the hallucination of flowers in a mirror, nothing lasts. They all fade away.
