This series began during the time we were all confined to our homes, at the height of the Covid pandemic. We could no longer go out, nor enjoy our cities, and many of us felt a deep sense of loss. As an artist, Vacades wanted to bring back the joy of our shared spaces. He filled familiar public places with blooming flowers, allowing people to dream again. These artworks offer an experience of nature through the lens of the city — a peaceful moment in a world overwhelmed by anxious news. The series was widely shared during the pandemic, as it reminded people of beauty, hope, and calm. Vacades’ intention was to blur the boundary between city and nature — not as opposites, but as two realms that can coexist in harmony.
