Ento Incognito is a mixed-media artist based in Montpellier who studied design and 3D at ESMA (École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques). His practice, which is resolutely handcrafted, draws on all the tools at his disposal: paper collage, graphic design, illustration, 3D, stop-motion, and traditional animation... to create visuals that are at times contemplative, at times narrative. Inspired by manga and Japanese animation, he draws from them a taste for dynamic movement and a particular focus on imperfection as an artistic medium, which he applies to recurring themes: sports and movement, the human body, the city, as well as more serene, minimalist, and colorful compositions. His animation technique, artisanal and demanding, involves sketching the character he wishes to bring to life, then capturing about sixty photos of each pose, taken personally with a drone or an iPhone, which are then cut out by hand before being animated frame by frame: roughly sixty shots result in about seven seconds of movement. This method, blending analog patience with digital sensitivity, shapes a style that is instantly recognizable, particularly through a series of recurring characters unique to his collage work.
His work has been praised by several leading figures in motion design, who have invited him as a guest on podcasts such as Le MoDCast and Mapping Motion. He has also collaborated with international brands and institutions such as PlayStation, Xiaomi, Citroën, Anyme, Google, Back Market, and the Frauenfeld Open Air festival.

A mixed-media work combining a 3D building and collage figures, this modern family tree represents my family: each member occupies their own space and lives their own life, while remaining connected to the others through a shared space.
