David Ariew is a digital artist based in the United States. He initially started his career in neuroscience at UVA, mapping the brain of the common fruit fly, but quickly realised his passion lay elsewhere. His background is in the border between the music and film industries, where he spent three years working on touring visuals for Dave Matthews Band, and where he first discovered his love for the 3D tool Cinema 4D, and more importantly, Octane Render in 2013. In both his majestic and cinematic worlds that recount a narrative, or hypnotising abstract pieces, David's work blends sci-fi and fantasy elements with a gilded colour palette that has become his distinct signature style.
In addition to his personal practice, David creates 3D tutorials for other artists to learn from. His work has been auctioned at Sotheby's and Phillips, he has collaborated on the Beeple x Madonna NFTs, and he has been exhibited in a solo show at Digital Art Fair Hong Kong and Beeple Studios. He has also made concert visuals for stars such as Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Zedd and The Lumineers.

This is a short film I created for my School of Motion course, Lights, Camera, Render! which started as a joke between my fellow educator, EJ Hassenfratz and myself. It began with a simple "hey, what if we depict a render farm as if it's an actual farm?" and I ran with the concept from there, populating the world with robo-characters, GPU corn, strange crop dusters, monitors and servers, and of course, aliens to abduct the cattle.
