“Silence is the lack of audible sound or presence of sounds of very low intensity.“
The Silence series explore the absence of sound in remote places around the world. Each work aims to capture the profound stillness and emotional resonance that emerge when sound fades and space takes over. Through a minimalist approach and subdued tones, the series focuses on the quiet strength of solitude and the calm hidden within desolate landscapes.
In Ensam (“Alone”), a single tree stands in the vast whiteness of the Swedish winter. Surrounded by emptiness, it becomes a silent witness to the frozen landscape, fragile yet resilient. The isolation of the tree mirrors the essence of silence itself: a state where everything unnecessary falls away, leaving only presence and stillness.
Inspired by the frozen beauty of Hemavan-Tärnaby, the work reflects the serene and almost otherworldly calm of nature at rest, where even the air seems to hold its breath.
