Makeitrad

United States of America

For more than twenty years, Makeitrad, a Los Angeles-based designer and pixel artist, has been crafting a visual universe where the organic beauty of nature constantly strives to break through the surface of a world saturated with technology. His creative journey took a decisive turn in May 2021, when he discovered the Hicetnunc platform and began producing daily monochrome works; nearly a hundred of them before venturing into color and then discovering artificial intelligence. He frequently employs AI and machine learning, yet remains just as committed to the principles of chance and noise as tools for refining forms, and is now seeking to merge his 3D work and his AI experiments into a single visual language. Some of his works explore his fascination with architecture and memories that question the passage of time and how our perception changes depending on the perspectives we adopt. Thanks to his incredible ability to find inspiration through a childlike lens, the result is work that is at once insightful and inspiring, yet also vibrant, innocent, and playful.

Makeitrad has participated in numerous exhibitions in American galleries and on the international digital art scene, including the virtual gallery Cryptovoxels as part of the promotion of “1893: Year of the Yogi Documentary” in November 2021, a digital exhibition at the Winston Watcher in Seattle in the summer of 2022, and an installation combining sculpture and collage on the theme of Futurism at the Hicks Art Center Gallery in Newtown, Pennsylvania, that same year. His practice has since become deeply rooted in the rise of generative art powered by artificial intelligence: his Evolution’s Echoes and Organic Fusion collections were presented at the CVPR 2024 conference, while his work “Orange Love” was projected in Times Square during NFTNYC 2024. He has also exhibited at the Oculus in New York as part of “AI Surrealism,” the largest AI art exhibition ever organized, featuring around 100 artists, as well as at the Dreamforum at Bright Moments in Venice, California.
