June Redthread Kim is an artist and director whose work traces the invisible structures that connect human relationships, nature and technology. For more than 15 years, she has developed Redthread, an evolving body of work devoted to revealing the hidden structures of connection that shape our lives. It began in 2010 with social media data-based sculptures and has since expanded across installation, moving image, immersive and spatial environments, and AI systems trained on her own artistic archive, all driven by a single ongoing inquiry. Redthread has become the creative DNA of her practice, a visual language linking physical works, immersive environments and cinematic worlds across space and time. She is also the founder of 528 Lab, a creative studio focused on cinematic storytelling and immersive experiences.
Her work has been presented internationally at Art Basel Miami, Saatchi Gallery, Outernet London and Frieze Seoul. In 2025, 4 Seasons of Redthread Vision was officially selected for the Paris AI Action Summit and exhibited at the Musée des Arts et Métiers, France’s national museum of art and technology, in Paris. Her work is also part of the permanent collection of the Amorepacific Museum of Art in Seoul.

Invisible Cityscapes makes visible the structures of human relationships and connections hidden within the urban landscape of New York.
Since 2010, Korean American artist June Redthread Kim has mapped human networks into intricate blueprints, translating invisible relationships into sculptures and installations woven from red thread. Rooted in East Asian traditions of invisible human bonds, her practice has evolved across materials and technologies.
Using an AI model trained on her original artistic archive, Kim extends this sculptural language into the urban spaces of New York.
In Invisible Cityscapes, layers of red thread stretch between New York’s high-rise buildings, forming a vast network. The threads intersect, connect, and at times drift apart, weaving an intricate web. Within these layers lie accumulated time and countless human stories.
A city is more than a collection of buildings and streets. It is a living system in which relationships are continually formed and transformed. The structures of red thread reveal the human connections that remain invisible to our eyes yet keep the city alive.
How many unseen relationships and stories are intertwined in the city we pass through every day?
