Sasha Sokolov is an audiovisual artist working with sound, light, and data. A single logic runs through his practice: a signal oscillating between order and randomness, applied to two different kinds of material. In the installations the material is synthetic, made of 3D-printed objects, lasers, screens, and ambisonic sound, forming closed systems that run on their own regardless of the viewer. In the audiovisual works the material is the world itself. Photogrammetric scans of trees, streets, and remembered places are moved by the same signal between recognition and abstraction.
Sasha was recently presented at Ars Electronica Festival 2025, with Antinomy, an Immersive Dance Performance, combining contemporary dance with generated visual art and video. He was also presented at Core Underground 2025.

This work presents a 3D scan of a forest whose warm, organic colors emerge from the darkness in the form of a point cloud. From a point of light suspended in space, a beam of white lines maps the texture of the bark, while red markers attempt to capture its vitality. The forest thus hovers between nature and digital abstraction, evoking the fragility of our own memories. Created using TouchDesigner and Ableton Live.
