A hybrid artist by nature, Mélanie Ertaud weaves. Between video games, animated film, immersive experiences, and painting, she constructs worlds where the boundaries between disciplines are not limits but passages. Her work is born from this porosity. Having long shaped virtual worlds as a Concept Artist and Art Director, her practice gradually moves away from the screen to return to materiality. From digital to traditional, what interests her is the deep coherence of a world: its light, its textures, what makes it inhabitable and instantly recognizable. Each project is an invitation to cross through. In video games and animated film, she creates spaces that carry memory. In immersive experiences, she pushes this gesture further, until the viewer no longer simply observes, but inhabits. Her painting extends this movement in another way. Oil, texture, raw material — through them, she translates the fragility of the living and the intensity of the moment, nourished by her physical engagement with the world: mountaineering and sailing.
This research finds its fullest expression in her exhibitions. In 2024 at MOB Hôtel in Lyon, then in 2025 at Galerie Alcôve, she unfolds 360° installations where oil painting, projection, and live piano composition respond to one another: spaces designed to be both traversed and felt.

Three ways of looking up. Light never falls whole here, it fragments, shifts, fades, and returns. The forest makes its own images.
KOMOREBI is what exists only in the interval: between the leaf and the ground, between shadow and day, between what passes and what holds. Nothing here is fixed. Everything breathes slowly.
