David Koblesky is a Chicago-based animator and illustrator whose practice focuses on looping digital animations conceived as sustained visual experiences rather than narrative sequences. Working across animation, illustrated motion art, animated GIFs, and generative moving images, he develops works that evoke weightlessness, rhythm, and motion, often drawing on the universal sensation of flight. His recent practice centers on a self-developed technique using 3D geometry and moving lines, resulting in animations that oscillate between figurative and abstract forms, occasionally glitch-inflected or surreal, yet consistently guided by a strong attention to visual balance and beauty.
With a background in experimental film and decades of experience as a creative director, art director, and motion designer, Koblesky approaches moving images with a painterly sensibility. His work is informed by experimental film traditions, notably figures such as Robert Breer and Paul Glabicki, while his visual language echoes the gestural energy of Cy Twombly and the structural playfulness of Paul Klee. Alongside his artistic practice, he distributes his work through digital platforms, selling animated pieces as NFTs on KnownOrigin and Teia. He is also actively engaged in critical reflection on motion art, maintaining a blog dedicated to the medium for the past three years.

The lines and shifting forms of the birds create a sense of buoyancy and continuity, rhythmic motion and repetition suggest lightness, resilience, and continuity. The looping form holds the image in motion, sustaining a continuous visual experience without narrative resolution. Rather than a destination, flight operates here as an ongoing state.
